Does anybody remember……Quality?

Music has always been a passion of mine, and as I was thinking about blog articles, what popped into my mind was a line from Led Zeppelin. I hear it in my head as if playing through my music system (old school rather than mobile phone, although any will give me my fix).

“Does anybody remember laughter?” from Stairway to Heaven. For some reason, it came to me while I was thinking about Quality. Does anybody remember Quality? I’m not sure Robert Plant will be agreeing to sing this for me, he reminisces on that line as embarrassing, but uneraseable as it was part of the song at the time and remembered as such.

To remember, we need to know, to define what Quality is.

Let’s start with one of Dr Deming’s definition:

“Good quality means a predictable degree of uniformity and dependability with a quality standard suited to the customer.”

What customers want and expect requires all the other parts to be in place. Parts with minimal variation against specification, fit together so they will work well together.
